JOHN FISCHER Singer, Songwriter, Author,
Humorist, Speaker with Guitar

Talk and sing. John Fischer does them both. Well. With roots in the radical '60s, John is still radical about his faith. Entertaining. Thought provoking. Always challenging the status quo. He'll say it. He'll sing it. Both, or either way, you'll get 30 years of making people laugh, and wonder, and be aware of their faith in ways they never imagined.

Although John is still available for individual concert appearances, most of his engagements now are 1-3 day events incorporating seminars, lectures and music. John hardly ever speaks when he does not sing one or two numbers or more during a given talk. It is also common for him to perform a concert or informal "coffeehouse" in the course of a weekend or multi-day event.

John is on the Thomas F. Staley list of distinguished speakers for Christian colleges.

Most Frequent Topics

John's conferences and seminars fall largely into these main topical areas:

Christianity and Culture

Exploring how we think about the world as Christians, how culture has impacted Christianity, what effect the new Christian subculture has on believers, and how to develop a new model for conscious involvement in the world.

Christianity and the Single Person

Finding freedom in principles from 1 Corinthians 7 that have made his pamphlet, "A Single Person's Identity" so widely distributed worldwide. This topic includes new models for dating and developing relationships.

12 Steps for the Recovering Pharisee (like me)

Finding and eradicating a spirit of judgement among Christians.

On A Hill Too Far Away

Keeping the cross in the center of our Christianity.

Christianity and the Arts

Building a philosophical foundation for artists and musicians in the body of Christ. This includes creative living and guides to interpreting art and popular culture as a Christian.

A New Millennium Model for Leadership

Exploring the key elements of Christian leadership necessary for the present and the future.

All of these topics can be covered in a single seminar or expanded into a weekend format or series of up to five talks.

In addition to these topics, John is eager to do new work to fit a particular theme or event upon approval. He has also been known to write a new song for special occasions and will consider this upon request.

"John Fischer pushes and pulls. He pushes us out to new borders of faith while always pulling us back to the centrality of Christ."
- Jay Kesler President, Taylor University

"John Fischer does a job on some of the sacred cows that have been idols for many of us. Fischer works through the confinements of religiosity into the freedom of spirituality."
- Tony Campolo Sociologist, Eastern College

"John Fischer thinks and probes. He is seeking to uncover "Christlike" thinking, not just "contemporary Christian" thinking."
- Leighton Ford President, Laussanne Conference of Evangelism

"He challenged the Christians at our University to break the mold we live in, stop being self-righteous, get in touch with our sin, and return to the cross daily."
- a student from John Brown University Siloam Springs, Arkansas
