Someone who believes in you Tuesday, January, 12, 2010
Do you have anyone in your life that believes in you so much they see what you can't see about yourself? In fact they see it so clearly that they get exasperated with you for not seeing it.

The way I see it, you can do one of two things about this. 1) You can choose to ignore them and continue on selling yourself short when it comes to opportunities to grow and expand your influence. Or 2) you can step out on the strength of what someone else sees, even when you don't, and start believing what they believe about you. This one is certainly more risky—less safe—but who ever promised us safety? Adventure, abundant living, maybe, but not safety.

Discovering and becoming all of who we are and are meant to be is one of the main reasons we are alive. If not, then what are we here for—to wait out our time until eternity and have nothing to show for it?

It's all about our gifts and our contributions that have a lasting effect on our corner of the world however large or small that corner may be. Thank God for others who believe for us and care enough to tell us what they see. And if you are unaware of anyone like this in your life, you aren't alone. God is there, and He is the one who has been behind you all along.

I know God believes in me, the problem is that I don't believe in myself. It took me years to finally come to the conclusion that I did not forgive myself. I knew and believed that God had forgiven me. This caused me to strive and work hard to find where I fit in God's scheme of things, God had his own plans, they conflicted with mine. Moses waited 80 years before he began his work that God had destined him for. Moses committed murder and did not wait for the God appointed time to be the deliverer of His people. I am now 65 and firmly believe that God is preparing me for something that has not yet occurred while I am here on earth. I am waiting. God is never late but is seldom on time. It took God 60 some years to finally have me believe in myself. God is preparing people out there all the time...and many of us are not aware of it and sometimes not cooperating very well. I know I didn't.

So thank you for getting people to think about how God thinks about them. It took me some time to figure out that Proverbs 16:9 We make our plans but the Lord determines our steps is key to my life.

My prayer to God has been for the last few years that I will not stand in the way of his plans for others and for me. The result is a great awareness of God and His glory and how he lets me share in that but not hog it. It has helped me to see how He sees me, and His picture I like a lot better.

Thank you for this wonderful Catch today - this was something I was incredibly thankful for; it's felt like my whole life I've been told by people I "can't" do things as well as others and I've grown up feeling I wasn't good enough. However when I met my now-fiance, for the first time I had someone who not only believed in me and saw things in me I did not see in myself, but he taught me that this was not how God wanted me to live - He wanted me to believe in myself and my potential, and to step out of my comfort zone so I could grow as a person and make a better contribution to the world.

I wrote a little bit about it in my blog here:

But I just wanted to say this really hit home and thank you, for reminding me of my blessings.

You are fortunate.

I had a FLEMISH friend in Belgium when I lived there some years ago now, that when he had problems beliveing or understanding something I said etc, he would sometimes respond by saying, "U are not to believe"
After reading your CATCH this morning, IF U need someone else to TELL or help U signfy U what they see in U, and NOT GOD HIMSELF, ie, the HOLY SPIRIT whom U are suppopse to have RECEIVED as a BELIEVER, U can go so badly wrong down what U think could be your ultimate lifes experience, I sincerly wonder who and what U are this day...
It seems to me your FAITH is leaving what some would call U, "HIGH and DRY"...

John Fischer Responds
Of course this comes through God and his Holy Spirit, but he uses others too. We are not individual islands unto God. We are interconnected as part of a family. we are the body of Christ and the body is built up together.
